Evangelism Training

We aim to keep personal evangelism in front of the membership through periodic training using videos and book by evangelists such as Ray Comfort, Mark Cahill, Barry Maguire, and Bill Fay.

Gospel tracts are constantly available for members to distribute and are located on either the tract rack or resource table. In addition, Gospel Hutches (similar to the Little Library concept) are located in front of the church building and in the front yards of some members for passers-by to take.

A weekly evangelism newsletter is sent by email to each member as a way to provide ways to start gospel-centered conversations and to create a burden to evangelize.

Finally, the plan for the summer of 2026 is to meet regularly with those interested in soul-winning to further train with videos, prayer for each other, share what has been tried and is effective, and to encourage one another. If someone would like to have a Gospel Hutch for their front yard, please contact a member of the O&E Board and we will supply one.

Hockey Camp

Holiday Food for Families

Years ago we were involved with the Angel Food ministry. When it stopped in 2011 we realized that those community people we had helped were still in need because of low income and being on food assistance. This sparked the idea that we could bless them with a nice food basket at Christmas time.

Continuing with the list of families we ministered to during the Angel Food program, we continued to help them with a new ministry we entitled Holiday Food For Families. Church members donate turkeys, vegetables, pies, and various non-perishable items each year, and the Outreach and Evangelism Board adds gospel literature and other items of blessing to the distribution baskets.

Early in December we gather in the gym to pack and deliver nearly 20 of these food baskets to appreciative families.

Hockey Ministries Camp

Metropolitan Baptist Church was the first church to bring a 5 day Hockey Ministries International hockey camp to Fargo in 2007. HMI conducts over 30 camps each summer around the world for boys and girls ages 9-17 using former and current pros from the professional and college levels as on-ice coaches.

MBC was the major contributor to the board overseeing the local camp for 16 years. Each of those 16 years over 65 campers (boys and girls) heard the gospel clearly taught through twice-a-day small groups and an evening large group time. Each day included 3 hours of quality on-ice training as well as an hour of dryland training. While the camp no longer meets in Fargo, we still support the efforts of the camp in Minneapolis with our prayers and attendance at fundraising events.

Date or Family Night/Sack Lunch Sundays

The Outreach and Evangelism Board promotes a date/family night each year. The night consists of food, games, and other entertainment with the church decorated in an exciting and fun theme. This is a perfect night to bring neighbors, friends and family that need to hear the gospel. Entertainment could range from clean comedy, parenting, marriage, evangelism, or a personal testimony.

Meal Train

This mostly in-house meal delivery system is for church-affiliated families that could use some meals due to hospitalization, illness, or for any other reason that may arise.

This is a program that is initiated by a coordinator who notifies church members by email. Members are directed to a web-based platform with a calendar of nights to be filled, with information on address, likes, dislikes, allergies and any further instructions.

This ministry demonstrates to family, friends and neighbors the need to see the love of Christ in us.

MBC Prays

MBC Prays began as a part of America Prays, a movement of united prayer to cover America in day and night prayer. The vision is to unite and equip churches in prayer for a national spiritual awakening. The call to prayer is not solely for pastors and leaders. Church members of every age can join in prayer.

Metropolitan Baptist has adopted the 12th of each month in 24 hours of prayer. Participants select a 30- or 60-minute segment of prayer. Booklets are provided for prayer focus points that unite us nationwide and are encouraged to include the additional prayer points that are specific to our city and state as well as the needs of the church family.
